OVERVIEW

As an Israeli biomedical engineer and entrepreneur, I have dedicated my career to advancing the fields of medicine and agriculture. I am a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an affiliated faculty of Harvard Medical School. My work as the founding director of the Alexander Grass Center for Bioengineering and a co-founder of Israel’s BioDesign Medical Innovation program reflects my commitment to applied research and education. My academic journey began as a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, setting the stage fo groundbreaking contributions. These include the first 3D printing of cells and the introduction of commercial human-on-chip technology, which have been recognized with prestigious National Institute of Health career award, the Kaye Innovation Award, and the Rappaport Prize in Biomedical Research and the the Rosetrees Trust Prize in interdisciplinary science. Through the BioDesign-Israel program, I played a pivotal role in educating over 200 young entrepreneurs and launching several medical device startups, including Guide In Medical, CardioVia, and SwiftDuct. My entrepreneurial spirit extends to founding Tissue Dynamics and Believer Meats (formerly Future Meat Technologies), where we are pioneering in the development of human-on-chip instruments for drug development and leading the charge in the cost-effective production of cultured meat.
